Just have to say, as a fan, why did you choose a horror sweater? It was actually about to be scary, with the reds and strange aloneness giving it a creepy ambiance, and I was expecting to be in a music video, but then..sweater boys. It's like a bad christmas sweater. I mean, it's cool to wear as your profession elsewhere, but not concert/performance wear, let alone horror VR Concert wear. One of them even looked a bit like my childhood neighbor's dad, so the dad vibes were strong.

Now, about the concert itself, the first half really: It was really...personal. It's like when everyone sings you happy birthday, but it's just you and a band, and they're screaming in your face half the time. Lots of eye contact. And strange facial expressions that do well in concert or music video, but not directly to one person.

It made me want to get up there and play an instrument too, instead of feel immersed in a concert. I felt more like I should be part of the band, but I'm out sick watching their rehearsal.

Or that they were performing on the street, but I was the only one watching.

This really picked up in the middle and made the first half worth it. Seeing all of the chairs floating and coming back down made me feel like I was in Harry Potter, like the room was still getting ready and I was there early. That looked cool. But why weren't they all wearing masks? The horror sweater looked better with a mask also. After a few times through the door, it felt purgatory-esque. Perhaps leading in with that vibe or bringing it about sooner would have made a little more sense. And where the door leads? That's what I was looking for in the first half! It's epic, it tells a story, it goes with the music. It's very A7X. But again...Why is there a video of the band in a concert whent they're right there in front of me performing?? Like, what? Do that, or have them float in a cloud with a video up close (similar to a real concert) and follow you through the story of your nightmare, maybe a VR of the music video, or some new content of a nightmare, using the lyrics as a guideline. Perhaps you could choose your position, being on the cloud with them to see a performance up close like that, or go through the VR experience below.

They led in with a going to Hell thing and the song is Nightmare, but then we stayed there and I didn't feel like I went anywhere but to a concert. I mean, I guess that is what I'm there for, but is it? I went through the doorway from Purgatory to Hell, but for fans this is a sort of Heaven, so...I'm just a little confused. It's not like it has to be age friendly or anything, children won't be watching. It could have more of a horror element to it. I just dont' know why it was so toned down.

But also, cool spiked pants dude. The zippered black and white pants are cool, but the shirt doesn't look as polished as the bass and the pants to work with it. Nice instruments being matchymatchy with the drums. Interesting beheaded guitar. Also, lead singer's tshirt did nothing good for him at the start, someone should have told him to change shirts. This is at the beginning of Nobody.

Overall, The band performed well, the music was good. Not my favorite sound (at least until Nightmare), but not every song is a Sidewinder or Almost Easy. It's a cool experience, especially if you can't go to a concert and have always wanted to. I definitely think more VR concerts would be awesome, since I fall into the category of not being able to go (kids, money, etc.), but might if given the chance. I expect the music to come to life in a new way for a concert. As nice as it is to just be performed live (and hopefully hear some cool nuances), I think concerts and VR are immersive, and I'd like to be immersed in the music in a new way. This was an alright start, but improvements can be made for next time.

What did you think of their VR concert?

  • Enjoyed it!

  • Great, but expected something different (What? comments!)

  • Didn't like it (Why? comment below!)

A crowd at a concert holding up their hands cheering while a band performs.
